Seriously cool. I want one.
I have been talking about XBMC and the ATV2 quite a bit recently – even blogging about it on occasion. I thought it was about time that I wrote about the N900 again.
Now, I know it is an old phone – I have had it just over a year now but I still keep finding new things like software/apps or tips and tricks and recently I feel that the phone was rejuvenated by modifications to the look and feel of the device. It’s the little things.
I have been making further tweaks and updates to the ATV2 version of XBMC to try and get the software more stable and usable. To be honest after the first couple of days I wasn’t really feeling the love XBMC – on ATV1 it was pretty stable and I had done a number of modifications to get it as close to best performance for my needs but ATV2 just wasn’t there.
So I got the latest semi-nightly build from the 15th May compared to the previous update from the 7th of May. Things are getting better all the time. What follows could be treated as guide how to update on the assumption that you have already jailbroken your ATV2 and have at least the official build of XBMC installed already.
I have been a user of XBMC for a few years ago. It started with a modded Xbox for me. I was really “wowed” by how cool the whole thing was and what its capabilities were. But is was noisy, So I moved on up to an Apple TV. This was great. Better performance and silent – however there were a few playback issues for me such as HD content.
To this end, since the announcement in January, Big News from XBMC I have been considering getting an ATV2 as this can handle HD (720p at least) and it absolutely tiny.
Bloody Royal Wedding.
I posted this on Facebook already but had difficulties sharing. When I found Mia sitting in the dark in the kitchen, as I was making dinner, I thought it was funny to see everyone in different rooms not interacting with each other but with technology on their own-some. So I thought I would capture the moment as best I could.
Sophie was around too, helping Kitty at one point to play Angry Birds. Frankie too was undoubtedly playing games. His laptop is my old laptop which has been rejuvenated by installing Jolicloud as an operating system. Since he is the main user he reckons that is a lot faster than Windows XP was.
So, without further ado – the video..
What do think? To quote McLog: modern family or Royle family?????

Kasvopus requires Qt 4.7.2 AND Qt WebKit 4.7.2 to run.
Brilliant. At last a decent Facebook client!! Very smooth. Not surprising given the last Social Media app that Tommi made.
Excellent work fella!!
Don’t think I will be first in the line for this. Not totally convinced about 3D in the first place. As time has gone on I have come to accept episodes 1-3 as part of the saga (though 2 is still pants) but do they really need to re-release this?
Why don’t they make an extension of the saga, like a 3.5 the early Darth Vader in much the same way as The Clone Wars bridges the gaps between 2 and 3?
What do you think?
The Sonisphere Festival is a touring music festival which takes place across Europe between June and August. It first started as far as I am aware in 2009 and in Finland it was located in Pori – home of the jazz festival. It was fast becoming a tradition to make an adventure out of the festival and spend some time around the area: and take in a few bars of course.
Twitter users tend to be readers of TechCrunch, Wired magazine and CNN.com, but also (ugh) PerezHilton.com ? so make what you will of that.
Sums Twitter up quite nicely :-)
