I Love Heavy Metal, and I love Reckless Love. I really do. I don’t know what it is about them, but they hit all the right notes for me.
Battle Beast kicked off the main stage events at the second day of the South Park Festival in Tampere for 2014 … in the pissing rain.
We’d just arrived as the rain started and it continued right through their set. Unfortunately for them, they were really the only main stage band affected.
The second stage or “tent” at South Park had quite a reasonable line up. Since it was where the beer was we did see quite a few of the bands.
The music was quite dark and very heavy. Most of it was a bit too “shouty” for my liking, and quite the opposite of the main stage artists – but it was a good atmosphere.
So the 21st of March was the date to see Battle Beast in all their glory once again. I saw them last year and was blown away by their vocalist. She has an amazingly strong voice and gives their music a real cutting edge.
Jettblack were probably the least surprising of all the bands. No real prior knowledge of them, and they sounded how I imagined they would – apart from their accents. They were good none the less.
HEAT sounded as if they could have been magic. We were hangin’ in the VIP area with BlackRain at the time *. If we had gone into the crowd I bet it would have been awesome. Funnily enough they had played in Finland a few weeks prior @on the rocks. I would definitely go and see them again.
Duisburg, 5th (ha ha) April 2013 will be a day that I’ll not forget for a long time. Shout It Out Loud IV really was something special.
As part of a few days break in the area that took in a local game of football and many of the local beers the concert was top-notch from the time the first guitar screeched until the final bows.
