Beyond the Lighted Stage

After a quick scan of Netflix on Friday night I chose a slightly more sedate option in the end compared with the Fast & Furious juggernaut that I was expecting to take.

Beyond the Lighted Stage was a fascinating and at times emotional journey that is an absolute must for Rush fans. It does beg the question why it has taken 5 years since its release for me to actually watch it but that is probably another blog post.

Top of the world – Imagine Dragons come to Finland in 2016

A story of coincidence, loose chat in the car and online purchase whilst driving *, this is how Imagine Dragons have come into my, and my family’s, life culminating with a gig in Helsinki in January 2016.

Having seen Within Temptation in February 2014 I eventually bought the album about six months later. While playing the album at home on evening my eldest child said that he recognized one of the songs. That song was “Radio Active” – an Imagine Dragons cover.

Going down to South Park …. In 5 weeks

In just over 5 weeks the trek to Tampere begins again. This years headliners on the Saturday are Def Leppard. I cannot wait to see them again. I saw them “in the ring” I’m guessing almost 30 years ago.

Like last years main act, Europe, these guys have a huge appeal to me and I really can’t wait.

Apocalyptica One Year On

Last  April  I went to see Apocalyptica in what was one of the weirdest gigs ever but also one of the highlights of the year last year.

This month their tour supporting Sixx A.M. kicks off with string of gigs around the U.S. and Canada.

Sixx A.M.’s Modern Vintage was one of my top albums of last year and Shadowmaker, released in Europe tomorrow, sounds classic already.

Time to Call it a Day Dave

With the anticipation of a new album from Van Halen (albeit a live one) I was keen to get a reminder of the VH greatness live as they performed on Jimmy Kimmel.

What came to pass was a reminder of all the things that I don’t like about Van Halen and why won’t be forking out nearly 100€ plus travel to see them if/when they hit the shores of Europe soon.
