What can I say? This was quite a strange concert. To my surprise, & the friends that I was going to the gig with, the Local Band were set to be onstage at 19:30.
Wow, that is early. After questioning the girl on the door the consensus was that it was because people had to go to work the next day – thus the early start.

2016 has been a shit year for me, music wise. Aside from all the celebrity deaths, some of which have been fairly hard to swallow, the music scene in Finland has been very poor.

So Muse return to Helsinki, for this first time, I think, since their Olympic Stadium gig in 2013. They promised a spectacular show and have a great repertoire of songs so we were all set.

I heard this song quite a while back, but the Local Band just uploaded it to YouTube this week. I really liked the original version, by the Veronicas.
They add their own inimitable style to the song though, and the video is fun. Check it out below.

So this was it. The end of Mötley Crüe touring as a unit. Their last ever gig in Europe. After 34 years as a band the time has come for them to go Home, Sweet Home.

After seeing Europe headline
South Park Festival last year anticipation was high for a more intimate gig at The Circus in downtown Helsinki at the end of September.
Needless to say, this was a great gig by a tremendous live band. Promoting their latest release, “War of Kings”, they played 6 tracks from that album but kept the old faithful happy with a good mix from their back catalogue.

Reminiscing on the super karaoke that was Def Leppard, the sing along aspect was surpassed by an excellent gig at Tavastia by The Local Band.
After the disappointment of the 100guitarsfromHEL event a few hours earlier, the band rocked their way through 14 classic rock covers that had the whole place jumping.

What a great concept. One of the greatest guitarists of modern rock gathers together 100 guitarists, composes a new tune to be played to a crowd on the steps on Helsinki Senate Square.
This great idea was ruined for me and thousands of others due to typically bad Finnish organization. What a disappointment.
