Alice Cooper was great again. This was at least the 3rd time I have seem him and his band play. Last time was at Sonisphere in 2010.
I was actually quite surprised to see him supporting Mötley Crüe since normally Finland gets the remnants / shit list when it comes to shows. Tickets are usually more expensive than mainland Europe and the support bands are often made up of local acts.
Not this time though. Below are some pictures and some takeaways from the gig.
Alice is a total Rock Legend
He may be 67 years old, but he totally commands the stage. The show is awesome and it was pretty close to a full set too. 13 songs with the electric chair type thing, a 20 foot Frankenstein’s monster and the execution.
Nita Strauss is a wicked shredder
I first heard about Nita on a Danko Jones podcast a few weeks back. This is where I heard that the Alice Cooper Band was supporting Crüe in the first place. I thought it unlikely that Finland was on their itinerary but was happy to see them.
Sack the Juggler
Whilst the band was very capable you have to question the drum thing on two counts. Firstly the drummer dropped his sticks at least 3 times. Secondly, when you are about to witness probably the greatest drumming spectacle ever – why have a drum solo? You are never going to come even close.
Overall though, a really enjoyable set, going through so many classic tracks. I would love to see Alice headline somewhere but for now I’ll need to make do with these awesome support performances.
