Within Temptation kicked off their Hydra tour in Helsinki in February. Perhaps due to the duet with Tarja, “Paradise (What about us?)”, I was envisaging the duet live on stage to end the show. Disappointing that it was the first real song after the start.
Rock Rooster is a Finnish pub rock band.
Apocalyptica played with a chamber orchestra an a tour of Europe this year. In March they arrived in Helsinki and the Finlandia House was packed.
So the 21st of March was the date to see Battle Beast in all their glory once again. I saw them last year and was blown away by their vocalist. She has an amazingly strong voice and gives their music a real cutting edge.
What a great gig that was.
From start to finish a great performance by all the band. They may be in their fifties now but they’ve still got it. Jim Kerr was full of energy. Very charismatic and sweaty.
I’m quite excited about this one. Simple Minds are another bucket list band for me. It is incredible that I have never seen them before but finally after 37 years I get to see them.
Last night I saw Reckless Love for the third time this year. Went along with Colin, with whom I go to most concerts of this nature, and a Reckless Love Virgin, Deano.
Nosturi was the venue and there was actually a pretty decent crowd. Are they finally going to make it? The crowd at the front contained mostly what sounded like school girls. There were some guys in the audience, but I guess we must have been close to the oldest there.
This year has been a cracker of year for live music for me. I’ve had one of the best festivals ever in Shout it Out Loud and my favourite performance of all time with the incredible Tesla… There was maybe the best “show” when P!nk came to town and Muse made amends for a lackluster performance in Malaysia a few year back.
It’s been over a month since the festival and it is still very clear in my mind. I said at the time that it was probably the best gig of my life. I still think so now. Tesla we just amazing.
Jettblack were probably the least surprising of all the bands. No real prior knowledge of them, and they sounded how I imagined they would – apart from their accents. They were good none the less.
HEAT sounded as if they could have been magic. We were hangin’ in the VIP area with BlackRain at the time *. If we had gone into the crowd I bet it would have been awesome. Funnily enough they had played in Finland a few weeks prior @on the rocks. I would definitely go and see them again.
