Mötley Crüe ended the European leg of their final world tour in Helsinki in November. A superb stage show and a fitting end to what has been quite an incredible career.
With the crowd being suitably warmed up by Alice Cooper, expectations were high for the finale of the Mötley Crüe circus.
A great set with great lighting and lots, and I mean lots, of pyrotechnics and flames this would surely be a great gig.
Hammering through songs from all their previous albums the classic tracks such as “Shout at the Devil” were real stand outs.
One of my favorites was “Same O’ Situation” with Vince strumming away on guitar also.
They sounded tired though. Vince Neil sounded as if he was singing the same songs half of the time, not sure whether he was forgetting his words or whether it was my recollection of the songs being poor.
Mick Mars bumbling around on stage like an old man (I know he is). He looked like a living (barely) member of anonymous.
Nikki Sixx was cool though. His banter about his knife was kid of lame but kind of cool at the same time.
Tommy Lee and his roller coaster drum kit was truly amazing though. I saw them 25 years ago and the rig has developed leaps and bounds. Move over Neil Peart.
There was a moment of silence as a mark of respect for tragedies that happened in France and other places the previous week. Tommy summed it up quite well.
It’s just fucked up!
So many good tunes, so many memories. Not the “best ever” gig, but I will have fond memories of this one.
Ending in the center of the arena they fittingly played “Home sweet home”.
The end of an era. Time for the next one. Say hello to Sixx AM.
