There are many articles on how to sync bookmarks across devices, be it using iCloud for Apple devices or Firefox or Chrome syncing methods. An alternative also exists to use Google Bookmarks. Since I use many platforms: iOS, OS X, Windows 7 & Windows phone and use different browsers at work and at play I primarly share my bookmarks cross platform with Google Bookmarks.
I am not going to post directions on how to add a Google Bookmarks bookmarklet to a desktop browser here as there are many guides on this including official instructions here but the steps to get the bookmarklet to are a device are as follows.
View the properties (usually by right-clicking) and copy the link to your clipboard. It should look something like this:
Send the copied text as an email to a mail account that you can recieve mails from on your mobile phone. Open your mail and copy the text you just sent yourself.
Open up Internet Explorer on your device and go to Google Bookmarks. Log in so that the browser understands you are registered there.
Tap the … and add the page to favorites. The information of course is about the page you currenty have open, but you can edit the title and then paste your clipboard text as the URL. I have used “_mark” as the title so it appears towards the top of my list.
Start bookmarking. When you see a page that is of interest, select “favorites” and select “_mark”. This will open a new window where you can add additional information such as tags. When you click on submit, the window will close.
This works for me on my Windows Phone and on the iPads that I have lying around the house.
Let me know how you get on.
